Collection is 75 cartons which have been processed, kept in original order and organized by creator (person or department) as listed below:

William Castle [Boxes 1-21] Collection of documents and correspondence originating from the Office of Dr. William E. Castle who served as RIT’s Vice President for Government Relations and Director of NTID from 1979 to 1994. Includes calendars, chronological correspondence, and administrative materials related to NTID and the Office of Government Relations.

Robert Frisina [Boxes 22-27] Collection of documents, correspondences and publications originating from the Office of Dr. Robert Frisina, who was one of the founders of NTID. Includes staff publications, construction of NTID, Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and chronological files.

William H. Williams [Boxes 28-31] Correspondence and administrative materials originating from the Office of William H. Williams, Assistant to the Director of NTID, Dr. Robert Frisina. Also includes materials from the White House Conference on the Handicapped, RIT Institutional Advancement Committee files, and essays/publications written by Williams throughout his career.

Center for Educational and Instructional Research [Box 32] Records containing reports of studies and general research, NTID general information, and scholar papers/reports on the deaf and hard of hearing.

Institute Review Board [Box 33-36] NTID projects about deaf, hard of hearing and hearing individuals. The project dates range from 1978-1994.

Milo Bishop [Box 37-39] Milo Bishop was Dean of NTID from 1979 to 1982. During his time as Dean, Bishop introduced programs to benefit deaf students and projects to improve curriculum and communication. Before, during and after his time as Dean, he wrote and co-authored multiple scholarly papers.

Miscellaneous Administrative Records [Box 40-44] Miscellaneous records from 1965-1976 that include publications and news clippings.

NTID Administrative Records [Box 45-50] Administrative records that include NTID program records, support services for students, professional staff meeting minutes, news releases, specific department purposes and functions, papers written by NTID staff, Division of Instruction materials, news clippings, and NTID construction reports.

National Advisory Group [NAG] [Box 51-57] In accordance with federal law, the NAG, or National Advisory Group, is the governing body for NTID. This collection contains NAG related agendas, correspondence, meeting minutes, member profiles, awards, and presentations from 1959-2003. It also contains records concerning NTID’s relationship with other centers and institutes, on a national and international scale.

Audio-Visual materials [Box 58-60] The audio-visual material consists of construction specs/ estimates, NTID Education Curriculum Proposals, staff publications, DVD and VHS tapes, audio and film reels, class portraits and slides. The DVD, VHS, reels and slides pertain to specific events on campus, such as the opening of NTID and the Dyer Arts center, or they were produced to promote NTID.

NTID Department of Institutional Research [Box 61-62] Administrative documents related to the NTID Department of Institutional Research, particularly the annual Alumni Feedback Questionnaire, which was sent out to all NTID alumni and provided data about their employment status and job satisfaction [1977-82].

International Deafness Outreach [Box 63] Correspondences pertaining to the International Deafness Outreach between William Castle and individual liaisons.

Institutional Planning and Research [Box 64-69] Collections of records on national employment outlook, wage surveys, labor and employment statistics by state, and data from Alumni Feedback Questionnaires [1972-1985].

Hugh Stubbins [Box 70-73] Collection of construction records for NTID buildings, blueprints, technical drawings, specifications for buildings, and schematics for electrical created by architect Hugh Stubbins & Associates.

Office of the Dean [Box 74] Administrative documents from the Office of the Dean from 1978-1993. Includes correspondences, office memos, meeting minutes and employment applications.

NTID Construction Records [Box 75-76] The records include the construction of NTID campus, interior design documents, publications, brochures and correspondences with architects and interior designers.
