Scope and Contents
The Deaf Rochester Film Festival collection contains a variety of formats documenting the festival from its inception in 2005 to 2011. Promotional materials include posters and clothing (t-shirts, scarf), as well as publications such as postcards, programs, and brochures. There is a large amount of media as well, including DVDs, CDs, and DVD-cams.

Biographical / Historical
In 2005, a small group of volunteers organized the first Deaf Rochester Film Festival (DRFF) in Rochester, New York. The mission of the festival is to:
promote and showcase films by Deaf and Hard of Hearing filmmakers
showcase films about the Deaf experience
encourage analysis and interpretations of Deaf Cinema and Deaf visual aesthetics
develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Deaf gaze in light of the diversity of genres, cultures, and styles of filmmaking
foster film as a medium for historical preservation of Deaf Culture
provide networking opportunities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing filmmakers and others involved in the field
inspire future generations of Deaf and Hard of Hearing filmmakers
