Biographical / Historical

Rochester’s own Milton Bond (1891-1970) began his career as a chemist trained at the University of Rochester. Bond’s love of the arts led first to a career in drama – he was a member of acting troupes in Rochester and Buffalo. He later came to RIT (then the Mechanics Institute) to study art. Bond was very interested in color, both scientifically and aesthetically, and his paintings reflect this interest. Bond taught at RIT later in life, and served as faculty advisor for the Art Students’ League during his tenure.
