Scope and Contents

The VATEA records include correspondence, reports, a proceedings booklet, workshop registration forms, amendment proposals for federal/state projects, an allocation of funds list, grant awards, and grant request information forms. This collection also includes a contract agreement between RIT and Monroe Community College for the School-to-Work program.

Historical Information: Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act

The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act was authorized by the federal government in 1984 and reauthorized in 1998. The man the act was named for was a Democrat member of the House of Representatives from Kentucky. Upon his death in 1984, he left behind a legacy of support for education. The purpose of the VATEA is to increase the quality of technical education throughout the United States to help the economy. This collection consists of VATEA records pertaining to RIT.
